Hey that was hilarious. Part of that is true. But I can't agree with you completely. His "kavithai pathi virpanaikku - meethi karpanikku" type. I hope you are in IT, would you agree all those in IT are good at their job? Even some successful people don't deserver their position. Its all in the game.

I came to your podcast via Prabhu karthik's blog.

Anyway, nice one. Can you give the URL of tfmpage.com you were referring to?

Ramesh Mahadevan is one of the earliest bloggers (who wrote his humorous fictitious posts of an Indian student in the US.

He was wildy popular in the US especially among the student community in the US.

He was working for a very long time in Colorado Boulder. He recently returned to India and is settled down in Madras.

His bio is http://www.image-in-asian.com/ramesh_m/about.html

and this is his current blog http://mahadevan-ramesh.blogspot.com/ although he does not write very often. He is a wizard at the stock market (apparently where he made his millions).

Cheers
Knight

Man, "Kannukku mai azhagu" in "Puthiya Mugam" was just one song. Commenting his entire work based on one of his songs is well, sad. Deriding "Karuvachi kaviyam" and "thaneer desam" based on these approach was the worst. Please read those books first. Probabaly you can appreciate his depth. A city kiddie (which I think you to be) may not appreciate the style prevalent in "Karuvachi Kaaviyam".
Also, most of your criticism is based on film songs which have lots of limitations to fit into the tune. So dont take them as your parameters for evaluation. Every great artist has one or two bad works. ARR is not at his best in every one of his films. But still he is considered great. Likewise Vairamuthu has one or two slips on his side. It doesnt make him any less magnificient.

Karuvachi kaviyam and thanneer thesam na padichen...just that i didnt finish...and i really feel there is nothing great about it for some one to be named kaviarasu....

With few examples, trashing up an entire body of literary work is quite unfair.
And I do find, 'Kannu mai azhagu' beautiful. The way one of saranam ends, ..'ennodu ne irundhaal irul kooda or alzhagu' is where the beauty lies...Vairamuthu is best in evoking subtle sensuality ..

And suggestion:
Your thoughts remain unclear. Its difficult to grasp what you are coming to say, as you break too often and their isn't a continuos thought flow. With out Ramesh's writeup a listener would have the hard time in grasping your talk. Hope you take this as construtive criticism and come up better in espousing your thoughts in future.

Prabhu.

Hmmm i am just thinking which work of his you can call "great" to name him a kavipperarasu...." nothing comes to my mind....Do you have any thing in mind...

and about the subtle sensuality ..
thats where he cheats each and every one of us...its def nice....but to write those do we need a poet....you and me can write..... and to write just that....well i cant call that poetry in the first place...and not some one a poet...
